Coconut Creek Located approximately twenty minutes northwest of Fort Lauderdale in south Florida. Officially named the “Butterfly Capital of the World,” the city’s most famous attraction is Butterfly World in Tradewinds Park. This is the world’s largest butterfly aviary, home to over 80 species and 5,000 individual butterflies, including rare species not found anywhere else in the world. One of the most intriguing attractions in south Florida, Butterfly World is an amazing, peaceful environment where you will view butterflies and learn how they grow, what they eat and how to lure them into your garden. There are also gardens with lorikeets, birds that are between a parakeet and a parrot. The city also holds an annual Butterfly Festival, a Butterfly Parade and the 5K Butterfly Run. Coconut Creek was incorporated in 1967 and is considered one of the major cities of Broward County. A new community center features a 35,000 square foot building with gymnasium, outdoor pavilions, a dog park, skate park, playground, sports court, and boat docks on the canal and lake. This beautiful, family-oriented community is just a short drive to all the other Broward County attractions, including the beaches of Ft. Lauderdale. http://www.floridavacations.com/fv/Coconut-Creek-Florida.html
